Cyclescheme, a Blackhawk Network Extras employee benefit, have pledged their support to the growing industry initiative ‘Investors in Cycling’, The Bicycle Association’s (BA) programme promoting the growth of cycling through advocacy.

As the leading cycle to work provider, Cyclescheme can save employees between 26-40% on a bike and bike accessories. Employees can purchase a bike or accessories via payments made tax-efficient through salary sacrifice.

Cyclescheme has developed an extensive network of cycle and bike retailers, alongside prominent advocacy groups – joining together to positively promote cycling as a sustainable transport solution.

Neil McGuigan, Cyclescheme Sr. Manager, said “As the leading Cycle to Work provider, our Cyclescheme solution works with over 2,000 UK bike stores, brands, and distributors in our commitment in getting more people cycling.

It is exciting to be collaborating with the Bicycle Association, closely aligning with our own goals of growing the local bike economy and championing the benefits of eBikes.

The pandemic has seen a dramatic uptake in cycling, creating a high demand for bikes and a spike in cyclists across the country. We are keen to support the continuing advocacy work of the Bicycle Association to maintain the momentum and see cycling to work as instrumental to this vision.”

David Middlemiss, BA Associate Director, said “The BA launched its first Local Bicycle Economy project in London in November 2021 with the publication of a report indicating an economic dividend of nearly £5 billion a year and the creation of 25,000 new green jobs in the bicycle sector in the capital. Working uniquely with the cycle industry, proving the economic value of cycling at this level is something the BA aims to do across the country in the months and years ahead.”
